The “2024 Taiwan Tree Protection Carnival and TWTCC Taiwan Tree Climbing International Championship”, co-hosted by Taichung Mayor Lu Xiuyan and the Taiwan Urban Forest Health Beautification Association, will be held in Taichung Park from March 9th to 10th. This event will gather more than fifty tree climbers from nine countries in the Asia-Pacific region for a unique tree-climbing competition.
The purpose of the event is to promote the correct concepts and techniques of tree conservation, and through international exchanges, to enhance Taiwan’s techniques in tree pruning, safety inspection, and risk assessment, further aligning with international standards. The city government hopes that through this event, it can not only strengthen the citizens’ awareness of tree protection, but also contribute to the city’s carbon reduction, air purification, and landscape beautification.
In addition to the professional tree climber competition, the event also includes tree artist demonstrations, plant diagnosis, tree protection and detection equipment technology demonstrations, etc., aiming to promote the popularization of tree conservation knowledge and techniques. In addition, the city government has also made full preparations for the safety of the event on the day, and has completed the safety inspection of large trees in Taichung Park.
This event is not only a grand event of tree protection and tree climbing techniques, but also an opportunity to enhance the public’s understanding of the importance of trees. The city government hopes that through this event, more people will get close to trees, understand that every tree deserves to be treated well, and work together to build a livable and sustainable city through the healing power of trees.
