Chen Yun Pao Chuan's family pastry business began in Fengyuan in 1908 and has been handed down for over a century. Everything is still made by hand with less oil and sugar, giving a light, fluffy texture that is not overly sweet, and many customers love it.

The best-known product is the sun cake, NT$32 each, with a flaky crust and a rich filling. They are baked fresh every day and are still warm when you eat them. Other signature items include egg yolk pastries, pineapple cakes, dried mango and lemon cakes, to suit different tastes.

The shop is fitted out in wood in a single color scheme and is pleasant to browse. Staff are friendly and helpful, ask what you are looking for and point out current deals. The tasting area also serves tea, so you can sample while you shop.

The packaging is well made, with a range of gift boxes, including Japanese floral cloth boxes, classic boxes and modern designs, good for gifts or for yourself. Chen Yun Pao Chuan also offers delivery, curbside pickup and in-store pickup.
