About Fourth Credit Cooperative

Fourth Credit Cooperative is about an 8-minute walk from Taichung Station. It is an ice cream and dessert shop that the Dawn Cake group created from an old building, not far from Miyahara, which belongs to the same group. Both are popular stops in Taichung. The building was once a bank, and the renovation mixes modern design with the old structure in an industrial style. The exterior keeps the look of the bank vault, and inside you'll find a wide range of frozen desserts, including ice cream, waffles, and fengren bing (a Taiwanese ice dessert). Ice cream flavors include chocolate, mango, blueberry, kiwi, and Earl Grey, made with fresh fruit and good ingredients. The ice cream cones are made by a machine inside a large safe, so you can watch the whole process. Waffle flavors include chocolate, mango, strawberry, and banana, made to order, soft and sweet, and good with ice cream or whipped cream. Fengren bing comes in mango, strawberry, kiwi, and passion fruit, made with fresh fruit and milk, light and refreshing on a hot day. Drinks include Oriental Beauty tea, lattes, Americanos, and green tea, brewed with good tea leaves and coffee beans.

Seating is on the first and second floors with plenty of space, and the interior is a popular photo spot. The staff are friendly and attentive, and can recommend from chocolates with different cocoa percentages. Toppings include pineapple cake and other cookies, all Dawn Cake products that you can also buy to take home as souvenirs. Prices are reasonable: about NT$100 for ice cream, NT$150 for waffles, NT$200 for fengren bing, and NT$80 for a drink.

Fourth Credit Cooperative keeps the historic look of the old bank while serving something new, and it is worth a visit when you are in Taichung.
