About Mitsui Lalaport

LaLaport Taichung is the first LaLaport mall that Japan's Mitsui group has opened in Taiwan. It is in the East District and has two buildings linked by a sky bridge: the North Building (No. 600, Jinde Rd., 7 floors above ground and 1 below) and the South Building (No. 700, Jinde Rd., 5 floors above ground and 1 below), with about 300 shops in total. The South Building started trial operation on January 17, 2023, the North Building followed on April 27, and the whole mall officially opened on May 16, 2023. The orange and green exterior is easy to spot.

From Mr.Mantter it is about 1.8 km: roughly a 26-minute walk according to Google Maps, or about 7 minutes by car. On foot, you cross Taichung Station to its East District side. If you arrive by train, you can leave your bags at Mr.Mantter first (from 3 days before check-in, and until 19:00 on your check-out day) and go shopping empty-handed.

Main tenants, based on the Wikipedia entry: in the South Building, LOPIA supermarket and Matsumoto Kiyoshi on B1, MUJI on 1F, UNIQLO, GU and HANDS on 2F, and NITORI on 3F; in the North Building, DAISO on 4F and Kura Sushi on 5F. Shops change from time to time, so check the floor guide on LaLaport Taichung's official site before you go.

Inside, the mall is spacious, with sofas and seating on every floor and very clean restrooms. Many Japanese brands have stores here, along with some shops found only in Taiwan. The food court has Japanese, Western, Chinese and Taiwanese food, plus dessert and drink shops. Attendants direct traffic in the parking lot, and the sky bridge between the buildings has city views and a smoking area.
